Biography
TEAZE was forged in Windsor, Ontario during 1975 at the hands of vocalist / bass guitarist Brian Danter, Marc Bradac on guitars, Mike Kozak on drums and second guitarist Chuck Price. Before adopting the TEAZE tag the group briefly operated as ONTARIO. Formative years on the local club circuit were to pay dividends when Bob Rags at Terry Flood Management signed the group to Aquarius Records in 1977. Switching base to Toronto, the band duly took on the TEAZE moniker. Unfortunately, their eponymous debut album, licensed to Capitol Records in the USA, failed to make an impression on the charts.
The group followed up swiftly with 'On The Loose', this set giving them a radio presence with the Country Rock flavoured 'Sweet Misery', as it transpired, the band's only ever hit single. The band members felt this song so unrepresentitive of their sound they actually never performed it live. Switching location to Montreal, TEAZE widened their touring objectives into the USA, having supporting the likes of MEAT LOAF, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, CHEAP TRICK and AEROSMITH in Canada, but only managed a single U.S. concert, as guests to APRIL WINE. In 1978 a tour of Japan proved rewarding and recording of concerts in Tokyo and Osaka resulted in the 1979 live album 'Tour Of Japan'.
Myles Goodwyn, of APRIL WINE, acted as producer for their third studio opus, 'One Night Stands', also released in 1979. The US version of this album through Capitol Records featured a different track listing to the Canadian variant, hosting a mix of new and earlier material. However, from the highs of Japan, TEAZE struggled once again on the domestic market. Their swansong album, entitled 'Body Shots', arrived in 1980. Two singles were issued, 'Roses And Chrome' and 'Living On The Edge', but these failed to re-ignite interest in the band and Aquarius driopped the act. TEAZE continued to gig in and around the Toronto area but disbanded during 1981.
A compilation, 'Over Sixty Minutes With Teaze', was delivered in 1990.Unidisc re-issued the TEAZE catalogue on CD format during 2006, most of these discs hosting bonus tracks. 'One Night Stands' featured a previously unreleased song, 'Slow Motion Lover'.
In 2008 it was learned that Brian Danter, having become a minister at Windsor Christian Fellowship, was planning on releasing a solo album called 'Traitor's Gate'. Projected TEAZE reunion concerts that year failed to materialise.
Rock Candy Records re-issued 'One Night Stands' on CD in September 2009.
