A consumate AOR outfit forged in Toronto during 1979. During 1982 their eponymous debut album was released on Capitol Records but initial reaction was slow until the third single, 'When I'm With You', went all the way to No. 1 in Canada and reaped significant US radio airplay too, peaking at no. 61. Despite this success, and high profile touring, SHERIFF folded in 1985.

SHERIFF's singer FREDDY CURCI and guitarist Steve DeMarchi also figured in ALIAS. The singer would later strike out on a solo career. Keyboard player Arnold Lanni and bassist Wolf Hassel forged FROZEN GHOST. However, in 1989 a DJ in Las Vegas re-ignited demand for 'When I'm With You' and the track rapidly blossomed into a second time around hit. Incredibly, a 30 week run on the charts gave SHERIFF a posthumous no.1. Although Curci and DeMarchi were active with ALIAS, it was Lanni who owned the SHERIFF name and the publishing rights to 'When I'm With You'.

Lanni also made a name for himself behind the desk with OUR LADY PEACE. During 2002 Curci revealed his new outfit ZION, a union with guitarist Alex Masi of MASI repute, and the CONEY HATCH credited Paul Marangoni on drums.
