Biography

NEURAXIS is a Montreal based brutal Grind-Death unit founded by guitarist Steven Henry, a seasoned campaigner of WINDS OF WAR, HANG OVER and GREEN THE GREY, during 1993. In 1994 the band would be brought up to strength with the addition of vocalist Michel Brisebois, guitarist Felipé Quinzonos and bassist Yan Thiel. Early live shows would be conducted with the aid of a drum machine until Mathies Royal joined the fold in the summer of 1995. However, signaling the start of numerous line-up changes to dog NEURAXIS' career, Brisebois made his exit, joining AGONY.

Maynard Moore would step into the breech as the new NEURAXIS frontman and in November 1996 the band set about recording their debut album, 'Imagery' produced by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean Francois Dagenais and released by the Neoblast label in February 1997. Indonesian label Extreme Souls Productions would pick up the license for an Asian cassette release. Prior to the release though of 'Imagery' Quinzonos bailed out. His place would be filled by CURSED guitarist Robin Milley. Promoting the album NEURAXIS put in a myriad of guest slots to the likes of international artists such as BORKNAGER, DYING FETUS, WITCHERY and SUFFOCATION.

Moore would be usurped by Chris Alsop but further ructions witnessed the departure of Royal. Temporarily the band maneuvered Thiel over to the drum kit. In January of 1999 erstwhile ELEMENTS drummer Martin Auger would sit in on a session basis for recording of the July 'In Silence' EP. A permanent drummer would be located by the April, with HIDDEN PRIDE man Alexandre Erian being enrolled.

Alsop would be the next casualty, his vacancy being rapidly filled by Ian Campbell, also singer with DARK VOMIT and SPIRITUAL MIGHT. With this line up NEURAXIS cut the 2001 album 'A Passage To Forlorn'.

Henry also pursues other endeavours outside of NEURAXIS including URBAN ALIEN, the IDIOPATHETICS alongside erstwhile WINDS OF WAR colleagues, Black Metal band AXIOMISED and as vocalist for WACKY PACK. Erian also operates a side project in union with ex NECROTIC MUTATION guitarist Eric Jaarn and former VOCIFERATION singer Marie-Helene. Milley and ex-vocalist Chris Alsop would also maintain another group entitled TORN WITHIN.

NEURAXIS united with BIRDFLESH and HELLBLAZER for European shows in September of 2003, sessioning on drums would be Etienne Gallo, a veteran of AUGURY and DISEMBARKATION. Back on the road, the band teamed up with MISERY INDEX for a short Canadian tour beginning in late October 2004.

During early 2005 Rob Milley united with the former QUO VADIS members guitarist/vocalist Arie Itman and bassist Remy Beauchamp alongside drummer Tommy Kinnon in a new band called JESTER. NEURAXIS entered the studio in May to cut a new album 'Trilateral Progression' for a September release via Willowtip Records, working with Yannick St Amand of DESPISED ICON as engineer and Jason Suecof from CAPHARNAUM on the mix. The record was mastered by Scott Hull of PIG DESTROYER. Also in the works for July issue through Willowtip would be a 34 track retrospective compilation billed 'Truth Imagery Passage'.

NEURAXIS surprisingly announced the departure of founding member and guitarist, Steven Henry, a thirteen year veteran, in January 2006. Reduced to a quartet, the band teamed up with STRONG INTENTION for US shows in February 2006. Japanese gigs in March had the band paired with MISERY INDEX. The following month the group pulled in ex-QUO VADIS touring guitarist William Seghers for a US tour throughout April and May alongside NECROPHAGIST, ARSIS, ALARUM, CATTLE DECAPITATION and THINE EYES BLEED. The band announced the addition of Seghers as a permanent member in October.

The band joined a heavyweight casting of CARPATHIAN FOREST, MALEVOLENT CREATION, HARM, INCANTATION and ROTTING CHRIST for the 'Domination' European tour, commencing on February 14th at the Warsaw Progresja venue in Poland before hitting Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Belgium, France and Holland.

'The Thin Line Between' the first studio release to feature new vocalist Alex Leblanc and guitarist William Seghers, saw issue in July 2008 through Prosthetic Records. The album was recorded by Jeff Fortin, of ANONYMUS, by the band in February and March and featured guest vocals from Luc Lemay of GORGUTS.
