Biography

Following his departure from the immensely successful MAX WEBSTER in 1981 Mitchell took time out before getting to grips with a solo career by producing the debut album for GOWAN. Mitchell returned to the fray with a set of five songs on the Alert label to test the waters. The debut mini album of 1982 finds Mitchell working with bassist Robert Sinclair Watson, drummer Paul DeLong and LABARGE's Bernie LaBarge on backing vocals. A huge hit in Canada, the track 'Go For Soda' was unofficially adopted by the American 'Mothers Against Drunk Drivers' movement as its theme song.

1985 full length album 'Akimbo Alogo' was followed by 1986's 'Shakin' Like A Human Being'. The album featured Mitchell, Sinclair Wilson and DeLong with Todd Booth on keyboards. Mitchell's status was now assured and the album shipped triple platinum in Canada.

1989's 'Rockland' boasted a guest appearance from TRIUMPH's RIK EMMETT. Former CHOPPER man Kim Bullard added keyboards. His touring band comprised of vocalist / bassist Pete Fredette, keyboard player Greg Wells and drummer Lou Molino.

LOVERBOY and STREETHEART drummer Matt Frenette joined KIM MITCHELL for the 'I Am A Wild Party' live album. The same year Mitchell reformed MAX WEBSTER and for touring purposes Fredette was pulled in on bass.

'Aural Fixations', released in 1992, found STREETHEART's Spider Sinnaeve on bass, Jim Taite on guitar and RED RIDER's John Webster on keyboards. For touring Mitchell brought in bassist Rob Laidlow, Fredette being unavailable on tour with TOM COCHRANE. (He would later found METROPOLIS). 'Itch' saw the talents of Sinnaeve once again alongside drummer Greg Morrow.

Mitchell's 1999 solo album 'Kimosabe' features LISA DALBELLO on vocals and songwriting contributions from ex-CONEY HATCH man ANDY CURRAN. Mitchell acted as session guest on HONEYMOON SUITE frontman JOHNNIE DEGIULI's 2003 solo album 'Songs In Dee'.

To coincide with an appearance at the 2005 'Sweden Rock' festival KIM MITCHELL issued a double disc compilation album, this set including a full concert DVD filmed in Canada during 1989 and a brand new studio track 'Fill Your Head With Rock'. Impressively, the new record landed at no. 13 on the national Swedish album charts.
