Biography
CHINA was a one off AOR band forged by Canadians CHRIS KEARNEY and Danny McBride with American BILL KING. CHINA's eponymous 1981 Bob Johnston produced album boasted studio guests such as LEE RITENOUR, drummer Mike Baird, Jeff Baxter of the DOOBIE BROTHERS and JAY GRAYDON. Released by Epic Records the album saw releases in the USA and Japan with different sleeve art.
The band had been assembled by vocalist CHRIS KEARNEY, a veteran of a string of seventies AOR releases in 1972's 'Christopher Kearney', 1973's 'Pemmican Stash' and 'Sweetwater' during 1974. Guitarist Danny McBride and keyboard man BILL KING both held a tradition with the 'Jesus Christ Superstar' musical as well as also both having issued solo product, McBride's 'Morningside' and King's 'Goodbye Superdad' for Capitol Records in 1973.
CHINA drummer Dennis Conway had played with ALICE COOPER on his 'Flush The Fashion' album and on PETER CRISS' 'Let Me Rock You'. In 2001 Sony Music re-issued the album for the Japanese market.
