Biography

Ijuí, Rio Grande de Sul Death Metal merchants KRISIUN (Latin for "Seers of abomination") include plentiful old school Thrashing as part of their delivery. The band is a totally family affair, comprising three brothers, vocalist / bassist Alex Carmargo, guitarist Moyses Kolesne and drummer Max Kolesne. (Alex uses his mother's maiden name). The band first offered their 1991 demo 'Evil Age', with 'The Plague' following in September 1992. During this phase KRISIUN operated as a quartet, with Altemir Souza on second guitar. Maurício Nogueira then occupied this post briefly before moving on to TORTURE SQUAD, ZOLTAR and IN HELL. A further session, the Tchelo Martins produced'Curse Of The Evil One', shared with VIOLENT HATE, backed these up in January the following year. Another release in October, laid down at Anonimato Record Studios in São Paulo, included a shared EP's with Germans HARMONY DIES for Rotthenness Records. This led to the 'Unmerciful Order' album on Dynamo Records in March 1994, on which the trio are all credited with the surname Kolesne.

KRISIUN debuted on the European continent with August 1995's 'Black Force Domain'. These tracks, cut at Army Studios in São Paulo, saw production credits going out to Sergio Sakamoto. Germany's G.U.N. label re-issued 'Black Force Domain' during 1997. German dates in the Winter of 1997 saw KRISIUN opening up a billing comprising RICHTHOFEN, DIMMU BORGIR and headliners KREATOR.

'Apocalyptic Revelation' emerged in August 1998, this being the group's first set of tracks recorded outside of Brazil at Musiclab Studios in Germany with Simon Fuhrmann in control of the desk. The band would make a significant impact upon European shores in 1998 ranked on tour alongside NAPALM DEATH, CRADLE OF FILTH and BORKNAGER before embarking on a series of headline dates with support act SOILWORK. February 1999 had KRISIUN involved in their inaugural North American tour alongside INCANTATION and ANGEL CORPSE.

Switching to Century Media Records, the band re-issued 'Black Force Domain' once again in 1999, adding bonus tracks in the form of cover versions of SODOM's 'Nuclear Winter' and a vastly accelerated take on KREATOR's 'Total Death'. KRISIUN's March 2000 album 'Conquerors Of Armageddon' was produced by MORBID ANGEL's Eric Rutan at Stage One Studio in Büchne, Germany. Limited edition variants added bonus cut 'Seas Of Slime'. Touring to promote the album found the band sharing billing with SATYRICON, IMMORTAL and ANGEL CORPSE in America. As ANGEL CORPSE disintegrated mid-tour with the departure of mainman Pete Helmkamp KRISIUN would obligingly loan out Carmago to fulfill vocal duties in order that ANGEL CORPSE could complete the run of dates. There would be no let up for the band, soon after engaged in European touring on a package billing in alliance with OLD MAN'S CHILD, GORGOROTH and SOUL REAPER.

The Tchello Martin produced 'Ageless Venomous' arrived in 2001 prompting a full scale global workout which saw KRISIUN performing in Europe, North America, South America, Russia and Japan. The band by now had risen to headliner status for the 'Thrash 'Em All' festivals throughout Poland and Russia topping a bill of VADER, LUX OCCULTA and BEHEMOTH. November of 2001 had the band on the road in the UK and Ireland for seven shows with CANNIBAL CORPSE and KREATOR, this union transferring to Europe before hooking up with MARDUK, DARK FUNERAL, NILE and VOMITORY to participate in the hugely successful sold out 'X-Mass' festivals.

Sadly, news arrived in 2002 that former KRISIUN guitarist Altemir Souza was killed in a motorbike accident. KRISIUN would co-headline a run of dates with VADER across mainland Europe from late August 2002 supported by DECAPITATED and PREJUDICE. 'Works Of Carnage', sporting a rendition of VENOM's 'In League With Satan' and produced by OBLIVEON guitarist Pierre Rémillard, arrived in October 2003 and the band announced touring plans for the US in November, forming up a billing comprising HATE ETERNAL, DEICIDE and CATTLE DECAPITATION. KRISIUN resumed live work in 2004 acting as support to MORBID ANGEL's extensive set of European dates commencing February 20th in Hardenberg, Holland. Further European shows that November dubbed the 'Clash Of Demigods' saw the band forming up a package billing with BEHEMOTH, RAGNAROK and INCANTATION. The 'Bloodshed' album, released by Century Media in October, would comprise eight new recordings alongside tracks from the rare 1993 'Unmerciful Order' EP.

KRISIUN formed up with a Summer 2005 package touring bill comprising HATE ETERNAL, INCANTATION, INTO ETERNITY and ALL SHALL PERISH for US gigs in June, after which the band entered Stage One Studios in Bühne, Germany with producer Andy Classen to craft a new album 'Assassination'. European dates would be announced for August, including Prague's 'Brutal Assault' festival, Germany's 'Party San Open Air' event and the Muotathal, 'Mountains of Death' festival in Switzerland.

'Assassination' arrived in February 2006. KRISIUN scheduled April 2006 US tour dates combined with MORBID ANGEL, Canadians DESPISED ICON and Polish Black Metal band BEHEMOTH. US dates for September and October saw the band hooking up with SIX FEET UNDER, DECAPITATED and ABYSMAL DAWN. Intended live work in December across Europe was to see the band hooking up with SIX FEET UNDER, GOREFEST, BELPHEGOR and DARZAMAT for the 'X-Mass' festivals. However, the group withdrew from these shows.

KRISIUN released the album 'Southern Storm', featuring the SEPULTURA cover version 'Refuse / Resist', in Europe on July 21st via Century Media Records. This set was once again recorded at Stage One Studios in Borgentreich, Germany with producer Andy Classen.A promotional video for the track 'Combustion Inferno' was directed by João Mauricio Leonel.

Promoting this effort KRISIUN embarked on a short European tour with ROTTING CHRIST and RAVENCULT in June. A longer trek with UNLEASHED and ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET followed in November and December.

In 2008 the band covered DEMOLITION HAMMER's 'Human Dissection' for inclusion on the Century Media artist compilation 'Covering 20 Years Of Extremes'. This double CD set comprised Century Media acts paying home to their stable mates.

Veteran German Thrashers DESTRUCTION undertook their "D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. - 25 Years Of Total Destruction" North American trek with support from KRISIUN and MANTIC RITUAL throughout March and April 2009. September US concerts saw the band partnered with OBITUARY, GOATWHORE, THE BERZERKER and WARBRINGER
