Rio de Janeiro Progressive Metal band ATLANTIDA, fronted by ex-THOTEN singer Luiz Syren, debuted in 2000 with the EP 'New Frontiers'. However, at this stage the band was titled ATLANTIS, subsequently being forced to change their name due to legal reasons. Drummer Victor Ferreira was replaced by Felipe Calani. The January 2004 album 'Painted Reality', issued through Full Sound Records, would see ANGRA's Kiko Loureiro and Renato Tribuzy of EXECUTION acting as studio guests. The album launch party, supported by SIGMA 5, would be held at the Rio de Janeiro Ballroom on September 21st.

In 2005 ATLANTIDA members Luiz Syren and guitarist Alex Macadi launched Heavy Metal act SYREN, an alliance with second guitar player Dennis Pombo, of IMAGO MORTIS, bassist Bruno Coe, of IMAGO MORTIS, and drummer Flávio Pascarillo, of NORDHEIM and TRIBUZY.
