Belo Horizonte 1990 Thrash outfit with strong SEPULTURA connections. THE MIST was established by former MAYHEM members Reinaldo Cavalão and drummer Cristiano Balão. Sadly, Cavalão died before THE MIST got to record. Cogumelo Records gave THE MIST their debut in 1989 with the album 'Phantasmagoria'. Follow ups included 'The Hangman Tree' in 1991 and 'Ashes To Ashes, Dust To Dust' in 1993.

Guitarist Jairo Guedz appeared with SEPULTURA on their first two albums, ex-CHAKAL vocalist Vladimir Korg wrote the lyrics to SEPULTURA's 'To The Wall' whilst bassist Marcello Diaz is a SEPULTURA roadie. In April 1996 the band was joined by former INSANITY guitarist Fábio Andrey.

Repulse Records issued the 'Gottverlassen' album in January 1997.
