Biography
"Razorgrind" outfit LENG TCH'E, so titled after the renowned Chinese torture of a death by a thousand cuts, is so completely removed from its foundation roster of musicians that it evolved into an operational unit comprising none of its original members. Formative drummer Sven is in fact ABORTED frontman Gurgloroth 'Svencho' Sven De Caluwé. The band began life in Ghent, East Flanders under the billing of ANAL TORTURE, forged by Sven and DARK AGES guitarist Glen Herman (a.k.a. 'Fornicator') along with vocalist Isaac, from FUCK OFF AND DIE and DEN OF ROBBERS, and bass player Kevin in early 2001. LENG TCH'E signed to the Italian Spew label for the opening 2002 album 'Death By A Thousand Cuts'. Almost immediately the band ran into problems with the track 'Fuck Eddy De Dapper', which due to legal constraints was re-titled 'Fuck Censorship' from the second pressing onwards. A split 7" single, entitled 'Razorgrind', shared with BLACK OPS was next to arrive, this set hosting the HEMDALE cover version 'Overflow'.
The band would employ Israeli guitarist Nir 'The Goat' Doliner of LEHAVOTH and WHORECORE, even undertaking gigs in Israel opening for AMON AMARTH. Unable to secure a bassist, Nicolas Malfeyt would switch from guitar to cover this role. Eventually the distance factor for Doliner prevented a full time role. In early 2004 therefore the band inducted Geert Devenster, a veteran of PANCHRYSIA and GORATH, as second guitarist. Another line-up casualty would be Nicolas, who left the band in order to relocate to New Zealand. The band enrolled former PYAEMIA, ARSEBREED and BLOODCUM bassist Frank 'Rizzo' Stijnen as guitarist in late 2003. Meantime, Isaac fired up a Noise side project billed as PERMANENT DEATH whilst Sven De Caluwé would front IN-QUEST for an album.
The band's second album, 'Manmadepredator', would be scheduled for May 2003 release. LENG TCH'E proposed split releases in 2004 with Canadians FUCK…I'M DEAD for No Escape Records and a split 7" single with GRONIBARD on Bones Brigade Records. Guitarist Rizzo decamped in August, being replaced in November by Jan Hallaert of SPLEEN. In early 2005 the band inducted Boris Cornelissen of Dutch band SUPPOSITORY as new frontman, debuting this revised line-up at the 30th April 'Face Your Underground' festival in Antwerp.
LENG TCH'E contracted to Relapse Records in March, scheduling a Summer release date for new album 'Process Of Elimination'. The band played May US East Coast dates packaged with IMPALED, MALIGNANCY and ABORTED. The band partnered with Quebec natives FUCK THE FACTS plus GORGASM and BENEATH THE MASSACRE for a Canadian tour commencing 1st May 2006 Ottawa, Ontario. In September Bones Brigade paired the band with French Grindcore combo WARSCARS for a split album 'The Musical Propaganda Of Sociologic Warfare'. Amongst the LENG TCH'E tracks would be an unexpected cover version of MÖTLEY CRÜE's 'Looks That Kill'.
The 'Marasmus' opus was recorded between July and September 2006 at CCR Studios, then mixed at Studio Fredman by Fredrik Nordström in September and finally mastered at West West Side Music by Alan Dauches. Guests in the studio would include Avital Tamir of BETZEFER vocalising on 'Confluence of Consumers' whilst Mehdi of DEDICATED added his vocals to both '1-800-Apathy' and 'Trauma & Scourge'.
To coincide with the release of the 'Marasmus' album the band announced plans to embark on a European tour commencing March 23rd 2007 playing alongside THE ACACIA STRAIN and Holland's THE ARCHITECT. In July the band inducted new drummer Tony Van den Eynde, previously of THE SEVENTH and ONCE GODLIKE. The group announced they were on the search for a new bassist in October as bass player Nicolas Malfeyt moved to second guitar.
In 2008 LENG TCH'E parted ways with vocalist Boris Cornelissen and replaced him with Serge Kasongo from southern Belgian band ACKROS. The group also released a split CD/7" single with FUCK THE FACTS through Power It Up Records.
Album recordings in January 2010 featured NAPALM DEATH's Barney Greenway on the song 'Totalitarian'.
