OCEANS OF SADNESS

Biography

OCEANS OF SADNESS, a Dessel based Gothic Doom combo, recorded their 2004 album 'Send In The Clowns' at Midas Studio in Lokeren, Belgium with producer Tony De Block. The record was mastered by Attie Bauw. The arrival of 'Send In The Clowns' would be marked by a special release concert at The Eendracht in Dessel, Belgium on 27th October, where the band performed the album in its entireity. Unfortunately, OCEANS OF SADNESS was forced to cancel all scheduled tour dates after their singer, Tijs Vanneste, became hospitalized with a collapsed lung. The singer underwent surgery and was pronounced fit once more in January 2005.

Vanneste would be found active in two extracurricular endeavours in the Spring, his own "strange electronical" concept THE JEF VAN ECHELPOEL EXPERIENCE and with a project of TRIGGERFINGER's Paul Van Bruystegem.

OCEANS OF SADNESS inked a deal with Italy's Scarlet Records in January 2007. The group's fourth album, entitled 'Mirror Palace', was produced by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden. It included a cover version of ALICE IN CHAINS' 'Them Bones'.

The band once again convened with the same team for their 2008 opus 'The Arrogance Of Ignorance', being produced by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street in Örebro. The album included guest appearances by Annlouice Loegdlund, of DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA, on the song 'Subconscious' and Johan Liiva, formerly of ARCH ENEMY and HEARSE, on the track 'In The End'.

In late 2008 bassist Jo van Heghe filled in for live shows with THURISAZ after the departure of Lars Vereecke.
