Black Metal act incited by drummer Azagdaimon, AVATAR first emerged with the 600 run 'The Emperors Of The Night' demo. Vocalist Daemas quit forcing Occulta (a.k.a. Jeroen van Gorp) to both play guitar and sing. Switching Anjelen to guitar as well AVATAR pulled in female bassist Hyberia just prior to inking no less than two record deals with Belgian companies Wood Nymph Records and Shiver Records. AVATAR shared stages in Europe with CRADLE OF FILTH, IN THE WOODS and DIMMU BORGIR.

The band resurfaced in 1998 sporting an all new line up. Alongside longstanding members vocalist / guitarist Jeroen van Gorp and keyboard player Ivan Op De Beeck AVATAR, heading in a much more traditional Heavy Metal direction, introduced Klaartje Keppens on female vocals and bassist Stijn Buys. Drummer Agathodaimon (a.k.a. Dave Hollandts) had opted out earlier.

Klaartje Keppens subsequently joined BLACK TEARS.
