Founded in 1990 as SARCASTIC MURDER by originators Christian Dobretsberger on lead vocals, guitarist Christian Riffert, bassist Rifart Peterwagner and drummer Markus Schickerbauer. Following a four track demo Martin Edtmayr replaced Peterwagner during December of 1993. Dobretsberger exited in 1995 and Michael Kneidinger took the role of frontman for a sophomore demo. Whilst in the process of recording the 1997 album 'Spearit' the band changed title to SPEARHEAD. However, the album cover bears the band name mispelt as 'Speerhead'.

Schickerbauer bowed out in 1999 and was substituted on drums by LEGACY OF HATE's Markus Pointner. The band also inducted Alex Ecker as second guitarist. Kneidinger would be next to leave, Hartwig Lasthofer swiftly stepping in as the band's new singer.
