Biography

A raw, Black Metal act out of Melbourne that started life as a SLAYER covers band. ANARAZEL, titled after the patron demon of flies and maggots, claim to deliver blasts so intrusive as to "strip nuns of their virginity". The group rose up during 1996, a quartet of Lord Maakryth (Dean O'Brien) on vocals and guitar ("Gore splattering death rattle"), lead guitarist Stuart, bassist Zoltan and drummer Roman 'Morturus' ("Necromantic armageddon thunder"). ANARAZEL debuted with a nine track 1998 demo 'Into The Abyss Midnight'. A self financed EP 'Rise Of The Tempest' followed the year after. This latter release found Lord Maakryth, prompted by the departure of Zoltan, adding the bass role to his responsibilities.

A major line up change occurred in April of 2000 when Stuart decamped, prioritising a solo project, terminating his four year tenure as the group's lead guitarist and chief song writer. ANARAZEL responded by inducting no less than three new recruits in Malleus of CLANDESTINE, guitarist Valak ("Chords of Christian holocaust") of COVEN and ABOMINATOR along with bassist Asassyn of NOSCHKYA.

Duly regenerated the band commenced live work and cut the 'Devil Hymns' release which included a rendition of MORBID ANGEL's 'Coven Of Ghouls'. Both Malleus and Asassyn then broke away, ANARAZEL responding by drafting DARKAN, PORTRAYAL, XENAPHOBE, SPINE OF GOD and DEAD & GORY bass player ("Fleshripping bass onslaught") Asheron. A new studio album entitled 'Undivine' was projected for 2002 release.

The demo 'Torrents Of Evil' arrived in October 2006.
