Biography

A much vaunted 2003 'Supergroup' band project from a clutch of seasoned and highly respected veterans of the Classic Rock scene. The foundation for THE RAGE came strangely enough from bassist Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake's long running legal battle with OZZY OSBOURNE. The pair had recorded Osbourne's first two albums 1980's 'Blizzard Of Ozz' and 1981's 'Diary Of A Madman' and had been in dispute over royalty payments for many years. Both had a tradition with URIAH HEEP with Daisley also having made his mark as a member of WIDOWMAKER, the GARY MOORE band, BLACK SABBATH, MOTHER'S ARMY and DIO.

The band, briefly having toyed with the title THE MEEK, was fronted by a genuine Australian superstar JIMMY BARNES. Having sold millions of albums as a solo artist and lead singer for COLD CHISEL Barnes put his solo career on hold to participate. On guitar would be DEEP PURPLE and DIXIE DREGS guitarist STEVE MORSE. At first the keyboard role would be taken by the stately figure of erstwhile DEEP PURPLE man JON LORD but subsequently DON AIREY, Lord's replacement in DEEP PURPLE, took the role. Airey of course is another bona fide Rock veteran, citing a tradition with (amongst others) BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW and OZZY OSBOURNE.

The 'Relentless' album, recorded in Florida with producer Darren Schneider, was slated for issue in early 2004 on Melbourne record producer Michael Gudinski's Liberation label. Besides original compositions it would include a set of OZZY OSBOURNE tracks.
