Biography
New South Wales Glam Rockers RABBIT was originally a trio of Mark Tinson on vocals and guitar, bassist Jim Porteous and drummer Phil Screen in 1973. The following year lead vocalist Greg Douglas was added but by October of the same year ex AC/DC singer Dave Evans was fronting the band. RABBIT relocated to Sydney to sign with the giant CBS corporation for the self titled 1976 album. Upon the release of the album former MARSHALL BROTHERS guitarist Dave Hinds was added.
Following the second album, widely acknowledged as an Australian Rock classic, RABBIT toured sharing a bill with the TED MULRY GANG.
As 1977 dawned both Tinsen and Screen decamped. RABBIT opted to persevere as a quartet plugging the gap on the drum stoool with Barry Lytten. With this line up the band released a single version of THE RAIDERS track 'Let Me'.
Evans bailed out in late 1977 as did Porteous who reunited with Screen and Tinson to found HEROES releasing a 1980 album. Screen and Tinson stuck together for a later act SWANEE whilst Hinds joined FINCH for two albums.
Evans emerged fronting HOT COCKEREL then THUNDER DOWN UNDER. In 2004 the singer embarked upon a tour of Europe with German AC/DC tribute band OVERDOSE. He reunited with his RABBIT colleagues Mark Tinson and David Hinds. Recording a new album in Newcastle, preceded by the single 'Sinner', the remainder of the band comprised guitarist Trevor Dare and Simon Croft, bassist Justin Ngariki' Bolth and drummer Steve 'Mac' McLennan.
