Biography
Errant bassist with UFO and WAYSTED. Pete Way is widely acknowledged as the man who invented the true character of the archetypal Rock n' Roll bassist. Way's reputation is such that no less than OZZY OSBOURNE found him to be too wild for his band. Nevertheless, the man's chaotic lifestyle does not detract from his position as a class songwriter and esteemed performer. It took Way more than 30 years since starting UFO to issue this first solo album 'Amphetamine'. Way takes lead vocals, guitars are from Walt James and drums from Scott Phillips.
Way debuted live in the UK, upfront of a full blown UFO European tour, by playing a low key gig at the Penny Road pub in South Barrington.
Way took time out during much of 2001 following the tragic death of his girlfriend on Christmas 2000. The bassist would become the subject of the rumour mill throughout the summer linking him to various project proposals. Way would eventually get back into the studio with UFO guitarist Michael Schenker for a combo entitled THE PLOT.
Hot on the heels of a 2004 UFO album 'You Are Here' the bassist delivered a further solo effort, 'Acoustic Animal' being put out through Majestic Rock Records. The bassist would also be active with the resurrected WAYSTED. Whilst still active with UFO, despite being denied entry to the USA, Way struck up another new band project in mid 2005 dubbed DAMAGE CONTROL, this an alliance with former MAGNUM, DAVID BYRON band, NOTORIOUS and LIFE guitarist ROBIN GEORGE and the veteran figure of AC/DC, URIAH HEEP, ASIA, MANFRED MANN, 100 PROOF and THE FIRM drummer Chris Slade.
