White Metal act formed in 1981 by high school friends guitarist Ray Parris and drummer Steve Whitaker. The band initially comprised two female singers, but, as the direction of the band took on a heavier turn, attempts to keep one of the girls in the band (she sounded just like Pat Benatar) came to naught because she wouldn't sing without the other girl. A few weeks later and Mike Lee was recruited from a newspaper ad that brought along bassist Jim LaVerde into the bargain. BARREN CROSS was officially born on November 14 1983.

First product was the self financed six track mini album 'Believe'. 2000 were pressed, which in turn led to a deal with Starsong Records. 'Believe' was reissued and retitled 'Rock For The King' with three additional tracks, but because of poor distribution failed to really hit the secular Rock marketplace. However, word had quickly spread about the band and a deal was negotiated with Enigma, who had achieved an enormous amount of success with leading Christian Metal band STRYPER...
