Noteworthy Toronto guitar based act built upon the Santers brothers Rick and Mark and former jazz bassist Rick Lazaroff. SANTERS began developing through the Santers brothers school years under a variety of names such as RAM, NIGHTHAWK and MANTIS. Dubbing themselves SANTERS the duo pulled in Lazaroff and began the circuit of club shows performing covers by staples such as LED ZEPPELIN and JIMI HENDRIX.

With the gradual inclusion of self penned material a decision was reached to cut an album, the debut 'Shot Down In Flames' being recorded during a week in December 1980 and released the later following year. Interest in the tapes was fuelled by the inclusion of the track 'Time After Time' on a local radio compilation album. The cut received enough playbacks to warrant interest Ready records who issued 'Shot Down In Flames' in September 1981.
