Friesland Gothic Metal act AUTUMN, initially going by the name of STONEHENGE, include vocalist Nienke de Jong and guitarist Jasper Koenders, both members of HER ENCHANTMENT. Guitarist Jens van der Valk is also active with CANTARA and GOD DETHRONED. The group had been founded during the Autumn of 1995 by a triumvirate of erstwhile INTERNAL PUTREFACTION personnel, guitarist Bert Ferwerda, bassist Meindert Sterk and Hilbrand van der Woude on the drums. Keyboard player Menno Terpstra was added to the band shortly before a name switch to that of AUTUMN. Welmoed Veersma became the band's singer in the Spring of 1996 and with this formation AUTUMN issued the April 1997 demo 'Samhain'.
During early 1999 Welmoed departed and AUTUMN drew in Nienke de Jong, noted singer with HER ENCHANTMENT and session vocalist for CALLENISH CIRCLE and GOD DETHRONED. Second guitarist Jeroen Bakker of LEGACY OF HATE repute was also inducted. This version of AUTUMN cut further demo recordings which duly landed a recording contract with Samhain Records. However, just upfront of recording for their debut album, both Bakker and Ferwerda left. Jasper Koenders, another HER ENCHANTMENT member, filled the guitar vacancy for the recording work on 'When Lust Evokes The Curse'...
